Why do I have to go through this?

Why do I have to go through this?

You want to know a little secret?

Life isn’t always easy… for any of us… and it was never meant to be. The truth is… we’ve all experienced some sort of trauma, heartache and/or suffering. We’ve felt anxious, depressed and overwhelmed.

Life has a funny way of allowing us to experience unpleasant things for the sake of learning, growing and becoming a more enlightened, wise and strong woman.

It’s much like when a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. First as a caterpillar, it creates a cocoon and then, before it can be ‘made’ into a butterfly, it becomes completely ‘unmade’ – much like caterpillar soup. It has to go through that process of “unmaking” before it can be transformed into something beautiful and even inspiring.

So perhaps everything painful we’ve experienced – our walk through the hard things or our time as the ‘soup’ – is simply part of that process that helps transform us into the beautiful woman we were created to be.

It’s sometimes hard to be grateful for painful experiences while we’re in them, but we often learn and grow through the process if our hearts and minds are open.

If you’re struggling, overwhelmed or stuck right now… take a moment to lean into it. Sit with it. Ask, “What can I learn from this?” and “How can I use this experience to help others in the future?”

Take it one step further, and write down your thoughts in a journal – how you feel, the struggles, the heartache and the hope. Then one day when you pick your journal back up, you can fully re-enter this moment with a new understanding.

So right now, in this very moment, much like the ‘caterpillar soup,’ we may not be able to see the lesson in it all or even see how we’re growing through it.

It’s often only down the road, when we’re looking back, that we might finally see that it’s this very struggle and past struggles that have been the catalyst to empower us to jump forward and to be ready to step into that greatness… that moment… for which we were created.
